About Us

     Furry Animals… Oh My! is maintained as a partnership by both of us, Corey and Ryan.  We have both lived in New Jersey for all of our lives and are quite familar with the surrounding area as well.  We often will travel to other states to transport chinchillas so keep in mind that our location is not always a problem.  Animals have always been very important to both us and a big part of our lives.  Corey has always been fascinated with chinchillas and has had them as pets from a very young age.  Ryan also became very interested with chinchillas and began rescuing them, making them his first pet chinchillas.  

     With all of our combined knowledge we decided it was time to get our feet wet in the chinchilla breeding world.  In 2002, we purchased a few high quality pairs from very reputable breeders across the United States.  Ryersons, JAGS, Shoots, Whitewoods and Hummel are just a few of the lineages that are in our herd.  In time we started growing in size and to date we care for approximately 70 or more chinchillas.  We still continue purchasing from some of the best known breeders in the United States to keep improving our herd.  Recently we have been attending chinchilla shows in both Pennsylvania and Ohio where most of our chinchillas have placed first place or higher.  We feel this is a great start for us and lets us know that we are in fact improving the quality of chinchillas that come from our herd.  We are anxiously anticipating the new additions that will come from our herd. 

     Currently we are both students at Rutgers University and are studying Communication.  We are also both minoring in Environmental Policy and Ryan has other minors in foreign language.  We are both anticipating graduating in May of 2008 so that we can spend even more time with the growth of our chinchilla herd.  The rest of our time is spent working as assistant managers at a local retailer.  We look foward to hearing from you getting to know other chinchilla loving people!
